End of an Era

Mom sent this to me, from the May 11, 1999, edition of the Bradenton Herald: our old band room at Bayshore High School has been demolished. The title is correct: man, the memories I have of that place. Lot’s of teenage emotion and angst. By my senior year, I spent several hours a day in that room holding a trumpet. Those were an intense four years—I grew up a lot, but still had much more to do when I left.
