Sarasota and Dune

Kip and I watched Denis Villeneuve’s Dune (part 1) last night, and I’m happy to say it was epic. Thursday night, we watched Lynch’s Dune from 1984, and even though I remember rlitkiag that movie quite a bit, it does have its problems. Still it did have some great performances and sets. However, this new Dune just blows it away in all respects. It’s such a big film and the Bene Gesserit are much shadier. I want to say more about it, but I really need to watch it again first. It’s gonna be a long wait for part 2.

On Main Street.

We spent the day in Sarasota, first lunching at the Hob Nob, then pursuing Sarasota Architectural Salvage. Both were pretty overwhelming. After, we walked around downtown a bit, taking a short dive into A. Parker’s Books—a favorite haunt of mine from way back in the day. We went to JDub’s to pick up a couple of six packs to take home, and I think it’s closed for good. Too bad. We made one more attempt to get beer back downtown, but had no luck. Thankfully there was a Total Wine & More on the way back to the house.

We drove the new convertible Benz. The day was lovely, but a bit warm on the drive up. It was perfect convertible weather that even though, so the trip back to Placida was just beautiful. After a quick stop at Publix to get ingredients for dinner, we were back at the house for movie night, part 2. Today, we have Sicario and No Time to Die—both of which I’ve seen, but Kip has not.

Florida in December is lovely.
