Updates
Today, I upgraded the MediaWiki software on Project Mailer after testing the upgrade on LitWiki. It was surprisingly easy on the latter—maybe because it lives on one of my internal servers. Everything just worked. The only real hitch with PM was updating PHP. I had to install it a couple of times before it took, for some reason. I probably need to clear out some of the older versions, but I’m afraid to break it. I guess, too, that the MediaWiki software is so mature now that upgrading should be a matter of course. Running the update script on PM took over ten minutes as the database is sizable.
Speaking of upgrades, before Xmas, I sent my Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition to the Music Room on trade for a Gold Note DS-10 Plus and PSU-10 EVO power supply—both in black. Based on reviews, it should be a pretty significant upgrade for my system. Even though I sent my streamer in about a week ago now, there is still no shipping notification for the new gear. That said, I did hear from my salesperson today who said they’re a bit behind this time of year. I bet. Still, this is a lot of time to make someone live without his system. Good thing I don’t have my audio room yet. I’m assuming there will be news about that soon.
Now, I have to upgrade this site’s software. It’s time: like PM, it’s several versions behind.
Well, the upgrade of MediaWiki went fine, but I could not get Chameleon, the skin I’ve been using for years, to work. Even after some troubleshooting, it was a no-go. Maybe it’s time for a new skin anyway. I’m going to have to play a bit to find one, though my current favorite is called Citizen. Maybe ChatGPT can help me make one from scratch?
