Primary Grad
Congratulations to Henry who is now a graduate of Kindergarten. Today was his last day in Caitlin’s primary class, and in July he’ll move up to lower elementary, or what’s traditionally called first grade. He has done well at Montessori, and we hope to see that continue.
As part of Caitlin’s last report, she writes:
“ | Henry loves to read. He gets excited to learn about new topics and loves to share what he has learned. He is developing the attention span to remain with age-appropriate materials until complete. . . . He practices writing in a journal daily which allows him the opportunity to practice composing stories on his own. This session Henry has enjoyed researching different topics and writing a brief description of what he learned in his journal. He loves learning about animals and history. | ” |
He does like to read, and he has come a long way. The kid reads everything now; I hope he’ll start reading novels soon, or what he calls “chapter books.” I’m trying to encourage him to write, too. These skills are so integral for developing critical capacities, creativity, and empathy—and I’m not just saying that as an English professor.
Way to go, son. I can’t wait to see what this next chapter brings.
