Ready to Go!
I have spent the past couple of weeks getting my summer session of World Literature ready to go. I have written, with the help of ChatGTP, all new resources for the texts I cover in that class: The Epic of Gilgamesh, the Iliad, the Odyssey, and Oedipus the King so far. I still have guides for Medea and Metamorphoses to write, but I should get to those soon. I’ll probably do one for the Aeneid, though I’ve not taught that in a little while. I also wrote my introductions for Epic Poetry and Greek Tragedy.
ChatGTP has been a huge timesaver with these, and my ability to query the AI is getting better as I use it allowing me to get the kind of detail I require for my undergraduates. I’m going to try to use it to help me write a couple of presentations on the material and maybe video. The course starts on Wednesday, but it’s ready to go.
The chair of the department offered me a graduate course in the fall: ENGL 5106: Technical Writing in the Digital Age. While it may not be the one I would choose, at least it’s a foot back into graduate teaching. Benita said it should be an accessible, project-oriented course into the program. No problem. Also, this means that I have a fully online schedule for the fall—a tremendous help for childcare. I always enjoy a new professional challenge, and I haven’t taught technical writing since my USF days. I’m sure things have changed.
